Rubber Stamping is a fun and versatile way of creating wonderful personal cards, gifts and scrapbook pages. The basics are easy to learn and before too long you will find yourself mastering a whole range of techniques.
The best way to learn is at a class where you will be shown and helped all you need. I offer regular beginners classes, the details are here. However if you can’t wait to get going here are some guidelines to get you started.
You are going to need a stamp, some ink and something to stamp onto. As with everything the quality of the materials you use make a difference. The best stamps to use are made of red rubber and ones where the image is etched deeply into the rubber. The easiest ones to use come mounted onto a wooden block.
When you are starting out I would recommend stamping onto smooth non shiny card and using a dye based ink as it is quick drying.
Make sure the card you are going to stamp onto is on a flat surface. Open your ink pad. Keeping it level, take your stamp and lightly but firmly tap it onto the ink pad so that the raised surface is covered with ink, you will see it has a shine on the surface.
Next decided where you want the stamp and carefully place the stamp straight down onto the card. Do not move or rock the stamp, but press it down gently and firmly. After a couple of seconds lift the stamp straight up.
Hey presto you have a beautifully stamped image.
